Prevention is better than cure!

Because some eye conditions are very serious, it is important to seek medical attention if you notice any changes in your vision or eyes. If you wear contact lenses, stop wearing them.

Symptoms that require prompt attention:

- New symptoms of "flashes", floaters (fly, veil, spider web, spots)

- Foreign body - debris in the eye (e.g. piece of metal)

- Sudden decrease in vision

- Red eye and/or eyelid - inflammation

- Pain

- Conjunctivitis / Infections

- Sudden onset of double vision

Examples of conditions treated and/or supported by the optometrist:

- Blepharitis (inflammation and/or infection of the eyelids)

- Stye / Chalazion

- Foreign body extraction

- Conjunctivitis (bacterial, viral, allergic, toxic)

- Keratitis (cornea)

- Uveitis

- Dry eyes

- Eye allergies

- Retinal detachment, tear or hole ---> emergency referral to an ophthalmologist

A referral or report will be issued to another professional if your condition requires it.
